Orson Around the Pool

Energy Corner

It is time to reduce pool equipment operational hours if they have not already been reduced. Since the weather is becoming cooler, algae and other bacteria have a more difficult time breeding in your pool water.

There are three things that affect the running time of your pool equipment:

1. The angle of the sun

2. Cooler days and nights

3. Cooler water

Because of these natural occurrences, we are able to reduce the running time of your pool equipment and this saves energy and money.

We will adjust your running time. Please do not adjust.  Every pool is a little different and the running time for one pool may not be the appropriate for another.

Remember, we still have water that needs to be circulated to prevent insect infestation and to filter out other items that can cause damage to your pool and health issues for your family.

Saving energy is a worthwhile cause. Not only does it save you money, and afford you the luxury of more discretionary funds, it also helps our environment and lowers the overall cost of energy.

Reducing the cost of running your pool equipment is part of this equation, but this cannot be achieved by just cutting back operational hours. How is it achieved? We replace your old pool equipment with new energy efficient equipment.

I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but it is not. You can replace your old equipment, pay for the equipment with energy savings in as little as 4 months, and the money saved for the next 8 months goes right back into your pocket. You can put as much as $1,000.00 back in your pocket the first year, after the cost of the new equipment.

It‘s as if someone is paying for the equipment and then giving you money to boot. Wait a minute! They are.

Did you know we can approximate how much money you will save on energy each year when you replace your old equipment with new energy efficient equipment?

Did you know, if your swimming pool now sports a 1hp single speed pump, and you purchase a new dual speed pump, you can pay yourself back in as little as five months?

For example, if you run your pool approximately 6 hours each day you could save approximately $454.66 a year after paying back the cost of the energy efficient pump?

If you have a larger single speed pump the savings can be even greater.

Going green can be great for the environment, but it is also great for your wallet.

The cost of energy is a problem for everyone. Everyone is trying to save money through efficiency.

While we believe saving money is important, we do not believe saving a few dollars in the energy section of your budget is warranted if the overall budget is increased threefold.

The path to energy efficiency is achieved through the replacement of old equipment by more energy efficient technology.

Pumps, motors, heaters, etc. have been improved to a point where it makes sense to replace the old with the new.

Decreasing the running time of your equipment through the warmer months is a mistake that will increase the cost of pool operation beyond that saved in energy.  Plaster, equipment and algae damage are related to the decreasing of equipment running time. Let us show you the right way to decrease energy costs. Please call with any questions.
